When high gastronomy meets theatre. How will the BEEF gastro performance look like?

Estimated reading time: 7 min

The Holešovice Market is celebrating its 130th anniversary in grand style. This year, the main focus will be on food and drinks, culminating in a 20-day pop-up revolving around food. By the way, you’ll also be able to taste a cake baked by the dog and the cat. However, the main attraction will be BEEF, a unique gastro performance.

BEEF presents a unique combination of theater and gastronomy, taking place in the former premises of slaughterhouse at the Holešovice Market. This innovative project offers an 11-course dinner, where food becomes an integral part of the artistic experience.

Behind the culinary experience is the head chef of the Mlýnec restaurant, Láďa Vaníček, who created a menu reflecting the symbiosis between theater and gastronomy. The inspiration started with images generated by artificial intelligence, which led to an innovative and creative menu with just one meat course.

The wait for the meat will be like waiting for Christmas, as Adam Skala commented on the menu.

The process of creating the menu was highly dynamic and full of changes, and it will incorporate a number of atypical serving elements to give the entire concept an original and slightly crazy touch. The whole performance will be carried in the spirit of a mass, which is why the courses have names like Annunciation, Ascension, Idol, and Requiem. The menu is full of colors and flavors that will wow you, tear your head off, make you lick your fingers, and in the end, you will die a sweet death.

It will also include the most popular Czech vegetarian dish, can you guess which one?

BEEF offers a unique experience where the boundaries between theater and gastronomy blur, providing guests with the opportunity to experience dinner as a work of art. Are you booking your seats yet?

If you're interested in how such a gastro performance is created, let us take you behind the scenes in our podcast Špetka chuti ze Zátiší, where we talked with Láďa, Adam and Veronika about BEEF.
